What we do
SeaAbility is a not-for-profit organisation based in Western Australia. We raise funds for the provision of inclusive sports programs, with a special focus on ocean based activities, tailored for individuals with physical and mental disabilities. We aim to promote skill development, confidence, and community engagement through accessible and supportive environments. We deliver on our mission through two core approaches.
Sit kiteboarding
SeaAbility supports the delivery of fully supported sit kiteboarding experiences designed to be inclusive, safe, and accessible to individuals of all abilities. Sit kiteboarding allows adaptive athletes to experience the thrill of kitesurfing using specialised sit-kite equipment, opening the door to a sport that is often otherwise inaccessible.
Our goal is that participants join kiteboarding courses with confidence, knowing that all accessibility needs are fully integrated into the experience. This includes dedicated certified instructors providing personalised support, extended preparation and tailored session planning, enhanced safety supervision both on and off the water, boat assistance, access to specialised adaptive equipment, and flexible session durations adapted to individual needs.
These enhanced resources ensure that every participant receives high-quality instruction in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.
By removing logistical and physical barriers, SeaAbility enables individuals to experience the freedom, independence, and joy of kiteboarding—opportunities that are often out of reach in traditional settings.
Ocean based support for mental health, chronic pain and other invisible conditions
SeaAbility also allocates funds for inclusive ocean-based programs designed specifically for individuals living with chronic pain, invisible disabilities, and mental health challenges. These challenges are not always immediately visible but deeply effect quality of life. Through its Adapted SUP and SUPportive programs, SeaAbiliy hopes to promote movement, confidence and community.
Stand Up Paddle (SUP) encourages access to gentle, adaptable activities in a supportive and welcoming environment.
The aim of these sessions is to foster low-impact physical movement tailored to individual capacit, improve mental well-being through time in nature, promote a sense of community and belongin and provide a safe space for individuals often underserved in traditional sports settings
The focus is not on performance, but on reconnection—with the body, the environment, and others.
SUPportive
Our SUPportive Program offers an accessible and enjoyable Stand Up Paddle experience for people with mental and developmental disabilities. By creating a supportive and inclusive environment, we enable participants to explore paddleboarding at their own pace, connect with nature, and benefit from the calming effects of being on the water. SeaAbility is dedicated to ensuring that everyone can discover the joy and benefits of paddleboarding.
